Grammar - Conjunctions
Today we learned about conjunctions such as ‘and’, ‘or’, ‘but’ and ‘so’.
Here’s a quick recap:
1. ‘and’ is used to join/add two or more ideas together.
Example: The king huffed and puffed.
2. ’or’ is used to show choice.
Example: Do you want tea or coffee?
3. ‘but’ is used to show constrast, when things do not happen as expected.
Examples:
His hair is not long but short.
I studied hard for my examination but I still failed.
4. ‘so’ is used to show results, when things happen as expected.
Examples:
I studied diligently for my examination so I passed with flying colours.
I have a lot of homework to do now so I cannot go to the cinema with you.
